In the weeks before the big holiday, Ralphie, his friends and his family get into all kinds of situations — including run-ins with a bully with "yellow eyes," a tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bar of soap in the mouth, a garish leg lamp, a major award and a Chinese Christmas dinner. Mandala Workshops at Timberline Gallery October 29 and 30 by Judy DeRosa

Our Circular Life

Give yourself the gift of a restful mind.

In life we are learning about the whole self. We are not compartmentalized like a notebook from school. We can use the Mandala as a tool to go deeper into the preciousness of who we are becoming. Using art becomes wordless expansion of the soul. This is a creative expression and meditation. Your gift is to yourself for the creative mind. You do not have to be an artist to enjoy the benefits of creativity.

The end result of art is secondary to inner peace gained while making a Mandala.

About Rev. Dr. Judy DeRosa

As I learn more about the Circle of Life I see it is continually giving me new opportunities for growth. Reminding me to count the blessings of natural circles I see in the wildness of nature. A bird’s nest or the moon or stones at my feet. We are all connected in this circle of life.

Participants will use recycled images from magazines to collage onto their Mandalas. They can also bring their own magazines or book pages for their collages. Magazines and other images will also be provided. The process is done as a meditation.

Live Artist Demo at Timberline Gallery

manzanita by Darlene Jaeger.jpg

Darlene Jaeger:

I believe my love of art started when in elementary school. I won the honor of designing the front page of our annual May festival program. I loved creating the artwork, but to be honest, I also loved the fact I was acknowledged for what I had created.

When I create art now my inspiration comes through nature. It has taking many years to be able to capture the wonders of our surroundings through an artist’s eye. To see the vivid colors, how the light glistens through a droplet of water on a rose petal, or the shadows forming on the ground from a thousand-year oak tree.

How grateful I am for finding the passion which gives me so much enjoyment. In return I’m hoping when people look at my work they can see and feel the same as I did when painting it.

See how Darlene works through a pastel from start to finish.

Darlene will demonstrate her process on Friday, October 12 and Friday, October 26.

Sierra Meadows Concert Series presents Tony Furtado

Tony Furtado.jpg

Food & Drink at 6:00 pm, Concert at 7:30pm

Very few musicians of any stripe so personify a musical genre as completely as Tony Furtado embodies Americana roots music. Tony is an evocative and soulful singer, a wide-ranging songwriter and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on banjo, cello-banjo, slide guitar and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the flair of a master chef (he’s also an accomplished sculptor, but that’s another story). All of the music of America is in Tony’s music. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony: “True talent doesn’t need categories.”

Tony will be performing with special guest Luke Price on the violin.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
